Public nutrition charity, Caroline Walker Trust, has just launched Children Eating Well (CHEW) website. All the resources have been been prepared by the Trust supported by registered public health nutritionists and dieticians. The Trust is completely independent and does not take funds from commercial organisations.Good to see that the Trust recommends that all children in the 5-11 year group have a school lunch provided by the school. They believe that the nutritional standards of UK school meals are hard to achieve with packed lunches and that eating together at school is an important part of helping children to develop good social skills.
The 12-18 year section highlights the importance of good nutrition in the teenage years and gives guidance on how to support independence by ensuring that teenagers have the skills to budget, shop for food and cook for themselves and others.
Hear hear!
