Those Trays

I've received many emails about yesterday's posting.  Apart from immediate reaction to the food on offer, many have commented on the trays onto which the food is served.  SFM is adamant that children should eat off a normal plate and bowl; they do at home, why not at school?  Apart from making the food look unappetising, the trays send a message that this is 'institutional' food (they use the same in prisons) when we should promoting food as appealing, interesting and of value - wherever we eat it.

Same food ... which one would you rather eat?

  1. Why make children eat off prison trays? They must be difficult to carry too? Lisa

  2. They are truly horrible to eat from. It is difficult to use a knife and fork. My proudest moment of our whole campaign in Merton was when the council announced that they would buy proper plates for every school in the borough!
